Yogurt Recipes
Unflavored Yogurt
- The taste and texture of yogurt varies according to the milk and yogurt starter selected. Yogurt may be made with milk of any fat content, even nonfat milk. You should experiment with milk of various fat contents to determine which you prefer.
Yogurt flavored after cooking
- You may choose to make flavored yogurt and add sugar, honey, flavorings, fruit, or other ingredients to taste just prior to eating.
Yogurt flavored with preserved fruit
- You may choose to make flavored yogurt and add sugar, honey, flavorings, fruit, or other ingredients to taste just prior to eating.
Yogurt flavored with jam or jelly
- 4-5 tbs. of jam or jelly
- 5 tbs. unflavored yogurt or 1 tbs. of culture
- 1 qt. Milk
- Heat the milk until it boils (180°F), for 1 to 2 minutes and starts to climb the side of the Saucepan. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the milk to cool to lukewarm (110°F). To accelerate the cooling down, place the saucepan in cold water. Warm the jam or jelly in a pan over low heat. Add half of the milk and stir until smooth; let cool again to (110°F). Beat together the culture, jam or jelly, and remaining milk until smooth. Add the Jam or Jelly while beating. Divide the mixture between the seven jars. Place the jars – without the white lids – in the yogurt maker. Cover the yogurt maker with its clear cover. Turn machine on.
Yogurt flavored with fresh fruit
- ½ cup chopped fresh fruit
- 4-5 tbs. of sugar or to taste
- 1-3 c. water
- 5 tbs. unflavored yogurt or 1 tbs. of culture
- 1 qt. Milk
- Heat the milk until it boils (180°F), for 1 to 2 minutes and starts to climb the side of the Saucepan. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the milk to cool to lukewarm (110°F). To accelerate the cooling down, place the saucepan in cold water. Cook the fruit in the sugar and water over low heat for 10-15 minutes or until thickened. Let cool again to 110°F. Beat together the culture and milk until smooth. Stir in the chopped fruit. Divide the mixture between the seven jars. Place the jars – without the white lids – in the yogurt maker. Cover the yogurt maker with its clear cover. Turn machine on.
Yogurt flavored with coffee
- 2 tbs. sugar or to taste
- 1 tbs. instant coffee
- 1-3 c. water
- 5 tbs. unflavored yogurt or 1 tbs. of culture
- 1 qt. Milk
- Heat the milk until it boils (180°F), for 1 to 2 minutes and starts to climb the side of the Saucepan. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the milk to cool to lukewarm (110°F). To accelerate the cooling down, place the saucepan in cold water. Dissolve the sugar and coffee with the milk. Beat together the culture and milk until smooth. Divide the mixture between the seven jars. Place the jars – without the white lids – in the yogurt maker. Cover the yogurt maker with its clear cover. Turn machine on.
Yogurt flavored with syrup
- 4-5 tbs. concentrated syrup (orange, lemon, pomegranate, strawberry, etc.)
- 5 tbs. unflavored yogurt or 1 tbs. of culture
- 1 qt. Milk
- Heat the milk until it boils (180°F), for 1 to 2 minutes and starts to climb the side of the Saucepan. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the milk to cool to lukewarm (110°F). To accelerate the cooling down, place the saucepan in cold water. Beat together the culture and milk until smooth. Add the syrup while beating. Divide the mixture between the seven jars. Place the jars – without the white lids – in the yogurt maker. Cover the yogurt maker with its clear cover. Turn machine on.
Waffle Recipes
Quick Waffles
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup milk
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ c. melted butter or margarine
- 1 tbs. baking powder
- 1 tbs. vanilla (optional)
- 2 tsp. Sugar
- Beat whole eggs in a bowl until thick. Beat milk, melted butter and vanilla into eggs. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Sift into egg mixture and mix well. Bake as directed Variation: Cinnamon-Apple. Add 1 apple peeled and shredded, 1 tsp. vanilla, ½ tsp. cinnamon to batter. Yield: 6-8 waffles
Chocolate Waffles
- 2 eggs - lightly beaten
- ½ cup chocolate syrup
- 6 tbs. sugar
- 4 tbs. butter - melted
- ¾ c. milk
- 1½ c. flour - sifted
- ½ tsp. vanilla
- 3 tbs. baking powder
- ½ tsp. Salt
- Combine eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. In a separate bowl, blend chocolate syrup with butter. Let cool. Stir into egg mixture. Combine dry ingredients flour, baking powder and salt. Add egg and chocolate batters to dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Bake as directed. If waffles stick to iron, brush grids with vegetable oil. Yield: 5-6 waffles
Sweet Waffles
- 1 c. butter or margarine (softened)
- 3¾ c. flour
- 1½ c. sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1¾ c. water
- 1-1/8 tsp. baking powder
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- In a large bowl, beat butter, sugars and eggs together. Add all dry ingredients along with water and lemon rind and blend until smooth. Pour approximately 3/4 cup batter into waffle iron. Bake as directed. Yield: 8-10 waffles
Hot Beverage Recipes
Gourmet Hot Chocolate
- 4 cups/32oz of milk
- ½ cup of granulated brown sugar
- ¾ tsp. of cinnamon
- ¾ tsp. of almond extract
- 2 oz. square of pre-melted unsweetened chocolate
- Optional Garnishes: Whipped cream and chocolate shavings
- Pour milk into the pitcher of Electric Beverage Mixer. Add brown sugar, cinnamon and almond extract. Turn the dial to 8-MIN After two minutes, slowly pour the chocolate into the pitcher. When the machine turns off, your cocoa is ready. Pour into mugs and garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Serves 4
Aztec Hot Chocolate
- 4 cups/32oz of Milk
- ½ cup of cocoa powder
- ½ tsp. of cinnamon
- 1 tsp. of vanilla
- Optional. Whipped Cream
- Pour milk Pour milk into the pitcher of Electric Beverage Mixer. Add cocoa powder, cinnamon and vanilla. Turn the dial to 8-MIN. When the machine turns off, your cocoa is ready. Garnish with whipped cream. Serves 4
Flavored Cocoa
- 4 cups/32oz of milk
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- Your choice of: ½ tsp. orange extract, ½ tsp.
- coconut extract or 4 drops of peppermint extract. Pour milk into the pitcher of Electric Beverage Mixer.Add cocoa powder. Turn the dial to 8-MIN. When the machine stops, stir in the extract of your choice. Pour into mugs and serve. Serves 4
